Refugee and Migrant Emergency Response
Duration: 17 months (01 December 2015 – 30 April 2017)
Donor: Migrant and Refugee Fund of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB - MRF)
The project aimed at providing necessary assistance and protection to the refugees and migrants arriving or transiting through Slovenia as part of the Eastern Mediterranean migration route between December 2015 and March 2016. To this end, the project enabled and supported the following priorities:
- Contribute to more efficient migration management by establishing an early warning information-sharing service;
- Support and assist the Slovenian authorities in providing adequate reception facilities and services to migrants and refugees through provision of non-food items (NFIs);
- Enable access to health services and psychosocial support for migrants and refugees;
- Identify vulnerable groups, including victims of trafficking, and enable their access to immediate support by referral to specialized services.
Since the closure of the reception and accommodation centers for asylum seekers and migrants in Slovenia in March 2016, the project supported activities aimed at the long-term integration of beneficiaries of international protection, specifically successful and sustainable inclusion in the labor market and the development of a model of cultural mediation. The project also supported capacity building for public officials in the area of intercultural competencies and activities aimed at awareness raising on the issues of forced migration.
