Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Slovenia, IOM covers different areas of intervention, such as refugee resettlement and relocation, assisted voluntary return and reintegration, and family reunification.

Successful Conclusion of the Social Activation Program for Albanian-Speaking Women in Celje
Adult Education Center Celje successfully concluded a three-year program "Social Activation for Albanian Speaking Women", exceeding the expected results. IOM Slovenia participated at the concluding event which took place on 7 September 2022 in Celje, Slovenia.
In the introductory part, Adriana Aralica from IOM Slovenia presented some migration trends for Slovenia, outlined the interlinkages of gender and migration, and emphasized the importance of tailored gender-sensitive programs enhancing inclusion of migrant women.
Ines Stilin, Director of the Adult Education Center Celje, presented the program that targeted Albanian-speaking women and was implemented in Celje, Velenje and Slovenske Konjice. Out of a total of 209 participants who completed the program, 79 were successful in entering the labour market. The participants strengthened their Slovene language skills, gained relevant experience for entering the labour market, and enhanced their social network. The program promoted collaboration among stakeholders in the local environment, intercultural dialogue and diversity.
Some participants that shared their experience at the closing event emphasized that participation in the program empowered them and gave them a sense of belonging in the society.
