IOM Slovenia successfully conducted another family reunification to Slovenia in cooperation with the Slovenian Ministry of Interior. The joint action reunited two children from Iraq with their father.
The family travelled from Iraq via Turkey, where IOM Iraq and IOM Istanbul provided departure and transit assistance at the airports. They were reunited with their father at Brnik International Airport on 28 February 2017.
Since 2013, IOM Slovenia has assisted in 19 family reunification cases from different countries, such as: Yemen, Somalia, Syria, DR Congo, Kenya, Turkey, Ethiopia, Iraq and Iran. In total, 58 family members have safely arrived in Slovenia with IOM’s help. At the request of the Ministry of Interior, IOM assisted with arranging their travel documents, flight bookings and implemented departure, transit and arrival assistance at airports.
