ROUND TABLE
“Health Care of Migrants and the Role of Health Mediators”
on Monday 29 May 2017, from 9:00 to 14:30,
at the National Institute of Public Health at Zaloška cesta 29, main conference room ( 3rd floor), Ljubljana, Slovenia
In light of the transitioning to the establishment of the electronic personal health records (E-PHR) piloted within the IOM/EC Re-Health project “Support Member States under particular migratory pressure in their response to health related challenges” the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are organizing a round table “Health Care of Migrants and the Role of Cultural Mediators in Slovenia”.
The Re-Health project aims at contributing to the improved capacity of EU Member States under particular migratory pressure (Greece, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy) to help address health-related issues of arriving migrants. The project is making use of as well as expanding the already established brochures “Handbook for Health Professionals” (HPs) and “Personal Health Record” (PHR) to check the health status/health needs of the arriving refugees and other migrants.
The objective of the round table is to present the achievements of the project in Slovenia, address challenges related to the access to health care services by asylum seekers as well as to discuss the role and importance of engaging cultural mediators in the provision of quality and accessible health care services.
