Invitation to the 2nd IOM Global Migration Film Festival
For the second year in a row, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is holding the global Migration Film Festival. The festival showcases films that capture the promise and challenges of migration for those who leave their homes in search of a better life and the contributions they make to their new communities.
Different events will take place globally between 5th and 18th December 2017 to honor the International Migrants Day. In 2016, nearly 10.000 people in 89 countries attended 220 screenings at different locations. This year the IOM Mission in Slovenia is joining other 100 countries with its own film event.
The event with a short cultural programme will take place on Thursday, 14 December 2017 in Trubarjeva hiša literature / Trubar Literature House (Stritarjeva ulica 7, Ljubljana) between 14:00 and 17:00. Three documentary films will be screened:
»Recognizing Talent: Stories From Refugees and Their Employers« (developed within the Skills2Work project, Co-funded by the EU) ,
»This is Not Paradise« and
»When I'm There«.
Performances by Samar Zughool and dance group Haifa will accompany the programme.
The festival is a partner of the youth video festival Plural+ and the UN campaign TOGETHER, which aim to challenge negative perceptions and attitudes towards refugees and migrants. It is sponsored by the IOM Development Fund.
Please confirm your attendence to Tina Lazar at tlazar@iom.int by 8th December 2017.
The event is free-of-charge. All films will be subtitled in English.
