Information materials on COVID-19 vaccination for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection

Brochures on vaccination against COVID-19 for asylum-seekers and beneficiaries of international protection in various languages

Access to credible and reliable information related to the COVID-19 pandemic is of crucial importance for an inclusive public vaccination campaign in the spirit of no one will be safe until everyone is. Fair and equitable access to vaccines, in addition to tackling vaccine hesitancy, is critical for ending the COVID-19 pandemic. IOM is supporting the Slovenian national authorities in its migrant-inclusive approach to the vaccination roll-out, by providing culturally and linguistically sensitive information about COVID-19 vaccination to migrant communities, including by disseminating information materials for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection on COVID-19 vaccination.

The brochures outline the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination, explain the access of asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection to vaccination and present the currently available vaccines and their potential side effects. Information on the validity of the COVID-19 vaccination certificate, recommendations on the booster dose, advice regarding vaccination against COVID-19 during pregnancy and breastfeeding period, and general protection measures are provided in the materials.

The brochures have been reviewed by the National Institute for Public Health, the Government Office for Support and Integration of Migrants, and the World Health Organization office in Slovenia.

The IOM information materials have been disseminated at reception and asylum centres and other locations with a migrant presence, to raise awareness on the importance of COVID-19 vaccines and promote informed decisions surrounding vaccination among the migrant population.

The information materials were developed within the project Improving Access to COVID-19 Vaccinations for Vulnerable Migrants in Humanitarian Settings funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
