First stakeholder meeting in the framework of the regional project Protecting children in the context of the refugee and migrant crisis in Europe
On 8 March 2017 IOM Slovenia held the first national stakeholder meeting on child protection as part of the organization’s regional project Protecting Children in the Context of Refugee and Migrant Crisis in Europe. The purpose of the meeting was to present and review the planned activities of key civil society stakeholders in the area of child protection in 2017. The participants specifically discussed the potentials for joint efforts in the area of capacity building, data collection and counter trafficking and the prevention of violence against children, including sexual and gender based violence.
The project promotes the prevention of violence against children and respect for their rights along the migration route. It aims to strengthen integrated national child protection systems, deliver capacity building activities and facilitate data collection and the monitoring of the situation of refugee and migrant children in the region. The project is co-funded by the European Commission – DG Justice.
