Includ-EU capacity-building training on ethical recruitment

In collaboration with the Employment Service of Slovenia, IOM Slovenia organized a training on ethical recruitment on 16 November 2022 in Ljubljana in the framework of the Includ-EU project. The training was implemented by Pawel Szalus, a Program Manager at IOM and expert on ethical recruitment.

In the introductory part, representatives of the Employment Service of Slovenia outlined various measures to support labour market inclusion of migrant workers in Slovenia, and their collaboration with the employers. Pawel Szalus firstly introduced international labour migration and trends, the concept of ethical recruitment, and the IRIS initiative. As a global multi-stakeholder programme IRIS works with governments, civil society and the private sector around the world. The engagement focuses on awareness-raising, advocacy and capacity building, migrant empowerment, recruitment regulation, partnerships and certification. He further presented the IRIS standard and elaborated on collaboration among IRIS, recruitment agencies and employers. The last part of the training addressed the support that companies can provide to displaced persons due to the conflict in Ukraine.

The training concluded with a discussion on national regulative framework on ethical recruitment, and on the importance of transnational collaboration and exchange to strengthen the protection of migrant workers, especially in the light of labour shortages. The training was attended by representatives of the Employment Service of Slovenia, recruitment agencies, private sector, and adult education institution.

The training was organized in the framework of the Includ-EU project, implemented by IOM and funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union (DG HOME).
