Employer's handbook on hiring asylum seekers and refugees in Slovenia published
In April 2017, IOM Slovenia published Employer's handbook: Employing beneficiaries of international protection in Slovenia. The informational brochure for employers was developed with the aim to better inform potential employers of the free access to the labour market which refugees are entitled to by law. It promotes the employment of the beneficiaries of international protection in Slovenia and helps employers find the necessary information to ease the process of employing people from this target group.
The handbook includes testimonials of employers and beneficiaries of international protection, an overview of the current migration trends globally and in Slovenia, and advantages of implementing diversity in the workplace. Furthermore, the handbook presents information on international protection and the rights of asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection in Slovenia, access to the local labour market, employment incentives of the Employment Service of Slovenia and information on recognizing expertise and skills of asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection. At the end, the handbook also includes the contact details of institutions which can provide additional information to employers.
The publication was presented and distributed to the participants of the round table on private sector engagement and the involvement of employers in the process of labour market integration of refugees in Slovenia, as well as to the Employment Service of Slovenia and Association Odnos, which deals with integration. The electronic version of the brochure is available under the Publications tab of the web site.
The publication was produced and distributed as part of the project “Refugee and Migrants Emergency Response” with funding from a MRF grant received through the Council of Europe Development Bank.
