Our WorkAs the leading inter-governmental organization promoting humane and orderly migration, IOM plays a key role to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through different areas of intervention that connect both humanitarian assistance and sustainable development. Across Slovenia, IOM covers different areas of intervention, such as refugee resettlement and relocation, assisted voluntary return and reintegration, and family reunification.

Since the beginning of the year IOM facilitated the arrival of 21 asylum seekers from Italy
On 23 January and 14 February 2018 IOM assisted in the arrival of 21 asylum seekers, 18 Eritrean nationals and 3 Syrian nationals, from Italy to Slovenia as part of the EU relocation scheme. Both groups were assisted during travel by an IOM cultural mediator and greeted by a representative of IOM Slovenia upon their arrival to the asylum centre in Ljubljana.
Since 2016, IOM has facilitated the safe arrival of 253 persons through the EU relocation scheme from Italy and Greece to Slovenia. Nationals of Eritrea (77), Syria (152), Iraq (17), Yemen (1) and stateless persons (6) have been relocated during this time.
