Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme (AVRR)
Duration: 24 months (1 January 2019 – 31 December 2020)
Donor: Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia and the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF)
In line with other IOM AVRR programmes globally, the Slovenian programme has been implemented since 2009 and features the organization of voluntary return and reintegration for migrants wishing to return home, including assistance with all operational and logistical considerations of the return and the option of reintegration assistance in the form of funding business plans, educational or vocational grants, medical assistance, temporary accommodation and other individually determined support.
Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) is an indispensable part of a comprehensive approach to migration management aimed at orderly and humane return and reintegration of migrants who are unable or unwilling to remain in host countries and wish to return voluntarily to their countries of origin. For migrants who need to return home but lack the means to do so, IOM’s AVRR programmes are often the only solution to their immediate plight.
Please consult the IOM leaflet available in 16 languages for an overview of the assistance IOM can provide within the programme.
If you need assistance with returning to your country or you would like to receive additional information about the programe, please contact the IOM Slovenia AVRR counsellor:
